It's Winter Wonderland Time

Davvero imperdibile, e siccome il mio letargo è... ehm... part-time, riuscirò a vedere tutto!
What are you waiting for?

Sorry : I fell asleep a few days ... but when I woke up I had a big surprise:  in London it's Christmas! It's amazing, should not be missed , so I decided that my hibernation will be ... uhm ... part-time, so I can see everything!
Let's start with a classic: Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. This year I can meet a lot of bears there having their glory moment, hehe , I've always known to be trendy !
So I found so many of my buddies who were waiting for me .
Rides and attractions, the ice sculptures and the scent of almonds, chestnuts , mulled wine and specialty of the Bavarian village , with its jugs of beer and cheese and ginger biscuits and cinnamon.
The big wheel takes you out to see the entire park and surrounding areas, I recommend : no dizziness! Just fun!
Of course you can not avoid a trip to the Christmas market , crafts , Christmas decorations and Belgian hot chocolate gushing from the fountains ... not bad at all when you encounter the best of Europe in one place! What are you waiting for?

Happy Black Friday!

Happy Black Friday!

Yesterday it was the Thanksgiving Day, the American celebration also strongly felt in London for many Americans who live there or are passing through. They have all spoken about it, family meals are consumed (and as you can see, I enjoyed as well) so today I want to wish you a great Black Friday!
Black Friday, is held just the day after Thanksgiving and it is considered the official start to the holiday shopping season. The origin of the name has different hypotheses: black for the traffic that is created in the streets or the accounts of traders who finally go from red to black, or from passive to active assets in the accounts: they will be happy then! Shopping malls and big brands are promoting offers of all kinds, so many people take the opportunity to start the race for gifts. I have stopped hibernating on purpose (Remember? Mine is a special hibernation) to fetch a lot of supplies for the winter! Happy Black Friday!

Nothing to Hyde... Park. When autumn turns to winter.

When autumn turns to winter there is a time when nature shines its light. In Hyde Park this feeling reaches its peak, between all colors leaves dancing in the air, they land on the ground, make up shades, spots that move and overlap, an ever-changing palette.

Nearby the children have fun with the Holiday attractions, it is time already, but in the heart of the park is the silence to excel, walkers lost in thoughts or eager to get home for a cup of tea.

I love the geometry and draw diagonal avenues, such as intersections encouraged in continuous wandering up to the Serpentine and its long stretch of water between swans and seagulls,
where time seems to have crystallized in a picture of the past.

***
Today let's leave Teddy skipping merrily through the mountains , so I'll tell you about .I have just returned to London after a week in Italy where I came across many friends, and sometimes I tell myself that maybe if I did not live in London and the returns were not so infrequent and special, we would not commit to behold to exchange a few words and our own experiences, our own history and own lives , their existence would be assumed. Instead, the distance adds value and enhances the emotions and shared  moments , and just like the mountains echoes the feelings that come back fourfold . So after a jumble of events , nights out,  pizza to share all together ( I had made the day -to-day synoptic table to cross everything and meet as many people I could!) I have taken a bit of time to spend with my family in Aosta Valley. These are the mountains I really feel mine. It is maybe because as a child, perpetually affected , I returned the health in a flash and it was my first holiday (very therapeutic indeed) , then it is because over the years those places were intertwined with my most authentic passions and gave me unforgettable memories ( there were many football teams training there and they still go there on summer! ), but Aosta Valley, well, I still keep it safe right in the heart .The food is wonderful and I could eat my Fontina cheese at all hours of the day and in all possible ways , nature is gorgeous, and there's a circuit of Castles that could compete with Scotland : it would be challenging indeed! The moments spent together mix with the scent of chestnuts and the heat of the stove , the intensity of the wood and the chill of the snow-capped peaks . Frost that already seems to herald a goodbye , a detachment, a new distance, until next time .

My Crutchy Friend

Eccomi tornato!
Here I am! Well yes, I was on holiday. I went to Italy to eat so many good things, tasty food, so many wonderful places to visit and find many other Teddy bears. Unfortunately my friend Crutchy is a bit run down, feeling a little the crisis going on there, but it is perfectly organized and I am sure that soon it will be muuuuch better. In order to spend a nice afternoon together we shared a British-Italian Afternoon Tea. Well, you need to know that in Italy they prepare many mignon pastries, cupcakes and pies with custard cream (a lot, everywhere!), fruit, chocolate, coffee and so on and so forth! And Crutchy has offered me really a lot sipping a strong black tea. Time has flown fast, between talk, stories, emotions that were not exchanged since long time! It was so good that I hope to see him again soon, in Italy or London or wherever!

Meet me at Home Sweet Home

See you soon my dear good friend!

The morning woke us up with a wonderful sun . There was no trace of the rain but of our hunger yes , as we are always looking for bears new energy !
So we went back again in Northern Quarter to experience another cafe : Home Sweet Home The striking detail is just entering the expanse of cakes and cupcakes that welcomes you with an imperative to Wonderland : Eat me !
So we enjoyed a wonderful hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows with taste of cookies, fudge and jellies and a slice for one of those towering cakes and tasty . We have also exchanged: coconut and chocolate for me , orange and chocolate for Button.
Both so soft and delicate ... yummy! Should I fill the den of delights like these for winter !

Too bad the trip coming to an end ... Button is time to say goodbye , thank you for the warm welcome you have given me and the good times we had together. We will remember this also among the most beautiful snapshots , waiting for the next time , in London or wherever !
See you soon my dear good friend !

Meet me at Sugar Junction

I have to admit that Manchester was a sweet trip : my friend Button in fact led me to discover a couple of fantastic tearoom !We arrived at the Northern Quarter that is becoming famous for these spots and we sling inside. It was indeed a very damp and wet afternoon, soaked by showers , not real rain , drizzle the quintessential English thin and almost imperceptible , as if sprayed from above , then and there does not even seem to get wet then , as you enter the warmth understand that you are sopping.
Sugar Junction welcomes you to the wonderful aroma of wood of its interior design , which gives you the impression of being in a mountain chalet or a cottage in the English countryside (or in my den in the trees).I was a bit  tired and sleepy along for the ride so Button decided to take some refreshment with a delicious Afternoon Tea (yes, the famous one of which I always speak) .Among sandwiches, scones with candied fruit, cream butter, jams, cakes and macarons we warmed and filled with chatter as we did for so long and the time flew by without us even noticing .

Manchester National Football Museum

As announced Button and I'll tell you some of our flash ride to Manchester. It counts 500 thousand inhabitants but the center is easy to visit.

Before going for shopping, we went to visit a new buzz in town: the National Football Museum.

Admission is free and it's open 7/7.

We had a blast! It's on 3 floors and it is a real immersion in the history of English football league (the so called Premiere League), founded in 1888, the championships, the Hall of Fame with the greatest players (Gianfranco Zola has a place of honor, he was so much appreciated), interactive zones where you can try penalties, live commentary, news and curiosity to discover, accessories for the perfect fan through the decades until the uniforms of the past ... a paradise for lovers!

Introducing a new friend: Button!

;) ) e vivere tante nuove avventure!

It's a rainy day in London, a strange rainy day indeed: the sun is shining but it's raining cats and dogs the same. I have to admit: I am a little tired, I just got back from Manchester where I went to visit my super friend Button!!! This is a cute picture of both of us.
We had the time of our life sharing tea, cakes and sandwiches and cookies (we'll report for you, no worries), with someone who knows me so long, and knows what it means to live in a new country, new experiences, new adventures: he's been living here since almost 10 years already! hey Button: we must celebrate this anniversary, don't you think? ;)

Christmas Lights Preview

Almeno io so già che mi divertirò tantissimo!

November in London means Christmas lights preview: first news about light projects and switch-on events.
Regents Street will host Dreamworks theme this year and it's supposed to be amazingly entertaining for children, adults and little bears like me!

Regents Street Christmas 2012
Leona Lewis, Eliza Doolittle e Passenger ne accompagneranno l'accensione.
Leona Lewis, Eliza Doolittle and Passenger will attend the switch-on event.

Oxford Street Christmas 2012

Oxford Street is due to show falling snow effects, with energy-saving light bulbs that will create a bright white Christmas atmosphere. The same project seems to be shared in Japan, Berlin and Madrid, with a good practice advice between these capitals connection.
The most famous shopping centers are unvealing their lights and windows as well.

Let's start with Harrods then! ;)

It's Bonfire Night

Believe it or not, out of my burrow the fireworks last night went on for at least 5 hours although there is still a bit to Bonfire Night! It was beautiful, the sky was colored though the dark, even though it was raining, everywhere you looked were brilliant surprises of light. On November 5th, in fact we celebrate this festival, also known as Guy Fawkes Night, named after the character in 1605 positioned explosive powder around the House of Lords in Parliament with the intent to kill the King, in the struggle that was consumed between Catholics and Protestants

The King escaped the attack and since then the night of this date is dedicated to celebrate the failure of the plan.
So in the whole of Britain are events and celebrations with fireworks of any kind, the children look with wonder and nose and not only them!

As you can see  I approached a lot, but I'll try not to burn myself, as animals have to be careful, but do not worry! There will certainly be warm between performances in heaven and bonfires.

Happy Bonfire Night!!!

Afternoon Scones

Tea time is almost institutional  in the UK, but my surprise was extraordinary as I discovered how they celebrate (that is how it has to be called: a veritable celebration) tea and what they prepare around "him".
If british people can afford a free afternoon they will begin the ritual called "afternoon tea": a flowering of delicacies for their favourite drink. Sweet or salted, it can easily replace a meal, some tea-rooms and hotels offer the Champagne and "bollicine" option indeed.
I'll be pleased to introduce you recipes and ideas to fill your tea with fantasy.
First of all, the Scones, that Brother Bear Little has prepared and photographed and I am more than glad to share it.

Ingredienti

4 cups di farina autolievitante
1 flaconcino di panna fresca (250 ml)
1 lattina di 7 up o sprite (355ml)
1/2 teaspoon di sale

Ingredients

4 cups self raising flour
1 vial of fresh cream (250 ml)
1 can of 7 up or sprite (355ml)
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparazione

Preheat oven to 220 ° C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Mix the flour with the salt, add the cream and mix well, then add the 7 up, so you get a very sticky compound.
Roll out on a floured counter and cut from mixing of regular slices or use a pasta bowl. If the dough becomes too soft to do this, lightly grease your hands with oil and torn pieces of dough directly from the pan trying to give a regular shape in each slice. Arrange the scones on the baking tray so that they are close to each other. Bake for 15-20 minutes until they become golden on the surface. Check with a toothpick to be cooked inside and also then arrange them on a grid wrapped in a clean cloth, this will leave them soft longer.
Once cooled (although I admit to having tried one yet warm and not tell you that goodness) cut them in half and fill them with jam or whatever you like.
Some advice:
if after a few days you will find hardened scones, just a short passage in the microwave to make them soft again.
The flavor of these scones is very delicate, slightly sweet for the presence of lemonade, therefore lend themselves well to savory fillings, I have them filled with tuna and mayo and I assure you that they were also more good than those with jam

Autumn in Kyoto Garden
